The Dubai Court of Appeal has increased the one-year sentence issued by the Court of First Instance against two women to three years in jail for kidnapping, detaining and assaulting another woman before photographing her in indecent clothes and sending the photos to someone else.
Both of them will be deported after serving their jail terms.
The case dates back to July 2021 when a man filed a complaint in which he stated that a female employee working in the same company he works for, had been kidnapped, detained and assaulted by two women.
The complainant stated that he received a letter attached to photos showing his workmate in indecent clothes with traces of assault on her.
Later, he added, he received a phone call from a woman requesting him to pay Dhs2,000 if he wanted his workmate to be set free and was given one hour to bring the money.
The complainant, however, told the police about what happened accordingly.
According to the official documents, a team of detectives managed to know the woman was detained and arrested the two suspects.
On interrogation, the accused confessed to having detained the victim, who previously defrauded them by offering them a chance to work as security guards in a company she was working for.
The other accused stated that the victim received Dhs2,000 from her in exchange for offering jobs for her and her friend but the victim did not fulfill her promise and switched off her mobile phone.
The accused added that while she was walking with her friend near the metro station, they saw the victim and asked her to return the money but she refused. At that point, the accused forced the victim to go with them to compel her to pay the money.
