The Dubai Public Prosecution referred a gang of six persons to the Criminal Court on the charge of stealing boxes of soft drinks, including energy drinks worth Dhs220,000, from a warehouse in an industrial area in the emirate.
The suspects reportedly transferred the stolen boxes to another warehouse by a large vehicle and sold them for Dhs30,000 to anonymous buyer.
Yaqoub Yousef Al Hammadi, Head of the Deira Prosecution, stated that the accused confessed that they had committed the theft and connived on it, so that each of them would share an amount of Dhs5,000.
He explained that through the investigations of the Public Prosecution, it was found out that the first and second accused had a deal with an unknown man to supply him with that goods in return for Dhs30,000 before the committed the crime.
“When the gang arrived at the scene, they broke the window of a vehicle that was parked in front of the warehouse door to move it away and allow their vehicle to enter, and then broke the locks of the warehouse door and entered it,” he added.
They loaded 1,497 boxes of soft drinks, including energy drinks of various types, and headed to another emirate. And on the next day they returned to the Emirate of Dubai to another warehouse in order to deliver the goods to the buyer, where they were arrested by the police, Al Hammadi added.
