Now this is one predicament no woman or man would like to find themselves in. Would you allow your wife or mother to move a sofa from your flat to, say, the ground floor of the highrise you are staying in? The answer is in the negative. It would be too much for her to bear. Leave it to the professionals, whose job is just that: carting heavy furniture.
Whether you are moving house or not is another matter altogether.
However, one woman, Melissa from Ohio, tried to take the road less travelled and ended up on a sticky wicket.
She was trying to shift her sofa, with the help of her partner, Todd, to the basement of her home when she got stuck under it. That’s because the furniture was wedged between a handrail and a wall. It covered the entrance of the basement. And it was not just for 10 minutes or even half an hour that she got trapped behind, but for a full three hours!
The fire brigade had to be called in, according to the Independent.
Her daughter, Claire, 23, recorded the incident.
The firemen freed Melissa by wriggling through the hole to remove the handrail from the wall.
Later on, when her mother recounted her experience, they had a good laugh over it.
