An Arab young man found a bag containing Dhs276,000 on Baniyas Road in Dubai and instead of reporting it to the police kept it inside his house.
However, police detected his location and arrested him with the bag and the money in his possession.
The police referred the accused to the Dubai Public Prosecution and from there to the Dubai Misdemeanor Court, which fined him Dhs10,000.
The case dates back to last October when an employee filed a complaint in which he stated that he lost a bag containing Dhs276,000 and belonging to a trading company he worked for.
According to his statement, he was assigned by his manager to deposit money in the company’s bank accounts.
He went to the bank on an electric scooter that he used to move around in Dubai areas, he said, adding that he hung the bag near the scooter handlebar and did not notice that it fell on his way.
After he discovered that he had lost the bag, he returned to the same road he took in the hope to find the bag. As he did not find the bag, he informed the police accordingly.
According to the official documents, a team of detectives checked the surveillance cameras in the area and realised that an Arab young man found the bag that had fallen from the complainant.
