Drunk woman assaults taxi driver in Dubai

The Dubai Misdemeanour Court fined a 31-year-old Asian woman Dhs3,000 for assaulting a taxi driver after he dropped her to her destination but she tried to escape without paying the fare. The assault resulted in scratches and bruises in the eye of the driver which made him unable to do his work for a period of no more than 20 days.

The details of the incident date back to September 2022, when a taxi driver reported that he had been assaulted by a woman after he dropped her to her destination. According to the victim’s statement, the woman got into the taxi from the JBR area in Dubai and asked to be drive her to the International City, and as soon as she arrived there, she tried to escape without paying the fare.

The victim added that he tried to talk to her, but she was under the influence of alcohol, so she scratched his face with her nails and tried to escape again, but he stopped her but she slapped him on the eyes and face, so he reported the incident to the police.

According to the case file, the suspect denied assaulting the driver and admitted that she was under the influence of alcohol and did not remember the assault.
