Sister held for hiring shooters to kill brother for refusing her marriage to cousin

Pakistani police claimed to have arrested a well-educated woman involved in hiring shooters to kill her brother over a marriage issue in Kot Lakhpat, Lahore, Dawn News reported on Thursday.

According to the report, a young man, named Adnan, was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists in Kot Lakhpat few days ago. The police registered a murder case and searched for the killers.

During investigation, the police arrested the deceased’s sister and her accomplice (Abbas) for hiring two shooters to kill her brother Adnan.

The investigating team through the help of the CCTV footage in the area also arrested both the hit men.

The shooters claimed that the woman wanted to marry her cousin Waqas, brother of Abbas, who was living in Italy but her brother opposed it.

According to the report, the brother wanted her sister to marry a well-educated person, but she refused.

The investigating team further said the woman and Abbas jointly planned to kill Adnan and paid Rs270,000 to them. Police have also recovered a pistol from them.

Young woman attempts suicide in Lahore

In a separate development, a 20-year-old woman attempted suicide by jumping over a bridge in Lahore. The woman was riding on a bike with her brother and as they reached Shanghai Bridge in Kot Lakhpat, she had a heated argument with her brother.

The lady suddenly jumped from the bridge, sustaining serious injuries from the fall. The Rescue 1122 moved her to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The doctor said that her condition is not stable.

According to police report, the woman was frustrated over failure to enter the marriage of her choice. Her family had also agreed and the marriage function was scheduled, but at the same time the groom didn’t appear on time and went into hiding.
