The Abu Dhabi Police arrested 159 beggars in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during the period from November 6 to December 12, confirming their continued efforts to address beggary, which deforms the civilised image of society, as it represents a fraudulent way under misleading methods.
Those beggars tried to win the sympathy of community members by fabricating misleading stories to take money, the police said, warning the public not to believe such tricks.
The police also emphasized their keenness to carry out continuous campaigns to control beggars to eliminate this unacceptable phenomenon, urging the public to cooperate and contribute positively with the police to preventing begging through reporting cases of beggary via 999.
