A woman filed a lawsuit before the Abu Dhabi Court for Family and Civil and Administrative Cases requesting that her ex-husband be obligated to pay her Dhs60,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages she incurred.
She also requested to the court to oblige her former husband to pay the fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
The plaintiff explained that she was married to the appellee and that he beat her up, causing her injuries mentioned in a medical report, which included pains, bruises and scratches on the head, face and right arm.
The plaintiff pointed out that the incident was brought before the Criminal Court that convicted the appellee and fined him Dhs8,000.
The court indicated that the beating took place in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the medical report submitted by the complainant was issued by a hospital in Abu Dhabi.
The court pointed out that the criminal verdict condemning the appellee was final and the complainant had suffered material damage as a result of her beating, so it obligated the appellee to pay his ex-wife Dhs20,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages she suffered, in addition to the fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
