Dubai Police has urged road users to exercise caution, adhere to safety rules, and reduce driving speeds during rainy and unstable weather conditions.
Brigadier Turki Abdurrahman bin Faris, Acting Director of the General Department of Operations, said motorists should always be aware of changing road-weather conditions, especially during these months when low visibility tends to be more severe.
“Motorists are encouraged to take time before their journey to review weather forecasts and reports through accredited media and the competent authorities in the country to avoid traffic accidents,” he advised.
Brig. bin Faris further urged motorists to keep a safe distance between cars and adjust their speed to the weather conditions. He also urged motorists to use low-beam lights and indicate when changing lanes.
Brig. bin Faris noted that since yesterday Monday, and today’s afternoon, the Dubai Police Command & Control Centre had received 15,057 calls, of which 13,108 were made to the force’s emergency hotline (999) and the remaining 1,959 calls were handled by the Dubai Police Call Centre (901) that handles non-emergency calls and general inquires.
