There were at least 40 external injuries, ribs exposed from back as skin had peeled away, the base of skull was fractured and some brain matter was missing, said sources citing the autopsy report of the woman, who died after being dragged by a car for 12 kms on Jan.1.
"The provisional cause of death is due to shock and haemorrhage as a result of ante mortem injury to the head, spine, left femur, both lower limbs. All injuries produced by blunt force impact and possible with vehicular accident and dragging," stated the report.
Also, the report indicates that there was no injury suggestive of sexual assault.
Talking to media, Bhupendra Singh Chaurasia, a family member of the deceased, who had Anjali's autopsy report in hand said that the post-mortem report showed no signs of her having alcohol. Chaurasia said that the autopsy report has suggested that no abnormality has been detected and no alcohol was found in the abdomen region.
"The brain is still missing and it fell off from the skull in the Kanjhawala area.There are a total of 40 injuries out of which 20 to 25 are grazed abrasions. There were 14-15 injuries after her death. Some of the injuries were inconspicuous due to blackening, smudging, and brush burn effects," said Chaurasia, while reading the autopsy report.
He even questioned that when two friends were together in such a brutal accident, how is it possible that one managed to escape without any injuries.
The family members of Anjali said on Wednesday that it was not an accident but a murder. "It is not an accident but a planned murder," said the family members of Anjali,
"It is a pre-planned murder. Anjali's ribs were exposed from the back of the chest. Her lungs were exposed and out," said the kin of the deceased.
The family's statement comes after Nidhi, a friend of Anjali's who was with her during the Jan.1 night, said that Anjali was drunk and not in her senses.
However, the official confirmation on the findings and final opinion of the post-mortem is still awaited.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police probing the death of Anjali have collected the call detail records (CDR) of the victim, her friend who was with her on that fateful night, and the five accused persons, to ascertain the sequence of events that led to the accident.
"The call detail records of Anjali, her friend Nidhi, and the accused persons have been collected. The investigators are waiting for an analysis of the call details, which will confirm their location at the time of the incident," sources said.
Earlier on Wednesday, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) had gone to the Sultanpuri police station where it conducted mechanical inspection of the Maruti Baleno car under which the 20-year-old girl got stuck on the outskirts of Delhi.
"So far, it has been found that she got stuck on the left front wheel of the vehicle. Our teams have also found blood stains around the wheel and other parts under the car," FSL sources said.
The FSL has also prepared a blood sample report of the five accused, who are presently in police custody. Separately, a new CCTV footage that has surfaced shows Nidhi returning home around 2.30 a.m.
In the CCTV footage doing rounds on social media, Nidhi can be seen reaching her house around 1.37am and entering the gate, however, it has a time gap of about 45 minutes proving that Nidhi reached home at around 2.30 am.
The 20-year-old woman, Anjali, was dragged for about 12 km from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala after her clothes got entangled in the wheel of the car which hit the scooty she was driving.
The police have arrested five persons, who were in the car when the incident took place. They have been identified as Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishan, Mitthu and Manoj Mittal. Amit (25) works with SBI Cards in Uttam Nagar, Krishan (27) works at the Spanish Culture Centre, Mithun (26) is a hairdresser at Naraina, while Manoj Mittal (27) is a ration dealer in Sultanpuri who is also a BJP worker.
