The American University in the Emirates (AUE) has received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is a body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.
The mission of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is to assure the educational quality and improve the effectiveness of its member institutions.
These details were revealed during a press conference held by the university at its headquarters in Dubai, in the presence of Mirza Al Sayegh, Vice-Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees, Khalaf Al Qubaisi and Khalid Al Halyan, members of the University's Board of Trustees, Professor Muthanna G. Abdul Razzaq, President and CEO of the AUE, and professor William Cornwell, Senior Vice President.
Sayegh appreciated the university’s candidacy for this accreditation, recognizing the role played by the institution.
"We are happy that the American University in the Emirates has received international accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
"The university's rich experience in community service and other credits and academic programs was the basis for this achievement," added Sayegh.
He stated that the real money for the university is represented in three basic elements: professors, students, and administrative staff, all of whom have competencies that illuminate the future in all disciplines at the university.
He conveyed the happiness of the Board of Trustees at what has been achieved in the form of the university’s noble goals.
Dr. Razzaq explained that AUE, one of the most reputable universities in the UAE, has been officially licensed and accredited since 2006 by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), Ministry of Education, UAE.
Through its short journey, AUE has earned two international American accreditations. The College of Computer Information Technology (CCIT) was internationally accredited in October 2017 by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). In February 2022, the College of Business Administration (COBA) received the golden seal of accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and joined the other 5.7% of the world’s elite business schools.
In December 2022, AUE was honored to announce its candidacy for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). As stated in the organization’s Core Values and Value Statement, "SACSCOC is an institutional accreditor that employs an accountable and transparent peer review process that assures educational quality and integrity, fosters continuous self-improvement, promotes student success, and improves the effectiveness of its member institutions."
"At AUE, we believe that "nothing is impossible," and achieving institutional candidacy status is a significant milestone in our university's ongoing strategic management excellence and continuous improvement process," Dr Razzaq said.
"Faculty members and administrative staff work individually and collectively to guide students toward academic excellence. AUE strives year after year to be a learning gateway and career path for all its students.
"The main goals of AUE are to provide graduates with new skills while also developing their mindset and character as global citizens and responsible leaders."All these and more are accomplished through quality teaching, learning, training, research, and unique academic degree programs offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Achieving various international and American accreditations at all levels will help realize the AUE vision to be one of the leading higher educational institutions locally and regionally, providing an integrated pathway for students to become creative, effective, and productive members of the community.
AUE continues to provide the UAE and the regional communities with leaders ready to make a difference for a better future nationally and internationally.
