The Dubai Police have recently honoured Upendra Nath Chaturvedi, an Indian national resident, for handing over Dhs134,930 cash he had found in a public place to the Al Raffa Police Station. Colonel Omar Mohammed Bin Hammad, Director of the Al Raffa Police Station, praised Chaturvedi for his honesty and for handing over the large sum to the nearest police station.
Col. Bin Hammad also awarded Chaturvedi a certificate of appreciation to emphasise the importance of collaboration between the community and police. Col. Bin Hammad further reaffirmed the Dubai Police's keenness on strengthening the concept of community partnership and reinforcing the sense of responsibility among individuals. Chaturvedi thanked the Dubai Police for honouring him and expressed this honour gave him great pride and joy.
Recently, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, honoured Abbas Khan Bhatti Khan, a Pakistani national, who took the initiative to manage traffic at an intersection in Dubai until the arrival of competent police patrols. Al Marri honoured Abbas Khan soon after a viral video of him managing traffic at an intersection in Dubai was circulated online.
"The quick action of Abbas Khan reflected his commitment towards the community and contributed to enhancing public safety for road users," Al Marri said. Meanwhile, Abbas Khan expressed his appreciation to the Dubai Police for recognising his good deed and honouring him.
The honouring ceremony took place in the presence of Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, and a number of police officers. Earlier, Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, on Thursday honoured at Sharjah Police HQ a worker for his noble human behaviour.
The worker was shown in a video clip posted on social video setting up barriers in front of a sandy square in Saja’a that turned into a large sinkhole due to the heavy rainfall with the aim of alerting drivers and road users of the grave dangers involved.
The honouring came as part of enhancing social responsibility, encouraging positive behaviour among members of the society and highlighting their noble roles that contribute to saving the lives of others and protecting them from risks.
