His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah on Sunday visited the Jebel Al Sheikh Tower in Khor Fakkan.
He was briefed on the restoration work recently accomplished in the tower, which rises 130 metres above sea level and features a wonderful panoramic view of the Khor Fakkan city and coast.
The Jebel Al Sheikh Tower is connected to several towers and overlooks some areas, including Rafia Dam Towers, Najd Al Maqsar Towers, Al Rabi Tower, Al Mansour Tower, and Al Aqaba Tower, which served as a defence for the city of Khor Fakkan in the past.
Sheikh Sultan directed the development of the works around the tower, the leveling of an asphalt road which leads to the top of the mountain, and the establishment of a rest house including a restaurant, a cafe, a prayer place, and some other services, such as parking lots to serve visitors to the area.
Sheikh Sultan also directed the establishment of gradient green spaces below the cafe and the preparation of appropriate seating areas to serve the visitors of the area, in addition to preparing the surrounding site so that it represents an addition to the multiple development and tourism projects in the city of Khor Fakkan.
