RAK Police scupper bid to smuggle 103kg of hashish on 'fishing boat'

The Anti-Narcotics Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, in cooperation with the Coast Guard Command in the emirate, thwarted a bid to smuggle 103 kilogrammes of "hashish" into the country by a number of drug dealers on board a "fishing boat" off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah.

This was after the Department had received information, stating that there was an attempt to smuggle narcotics through a coast in the emirate, Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said. “Based on verification of the information, a joint competent team was entrusted in cooperation with Coast Guard Command, to foil that attempt and arrest those were behind it,” the Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police said.

The team was able to arrest a number of drug dealers on board a fishing boat off one of the coasts, in possession of 103 kilogrammes of hashish, he added. They were referred to the judicial authorities for further legal procedures, Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi added. He praised the efforts and cooperation of the joint team, appreciating their constructive role in protecting society from the scourge of drugs and reducing the threat to its security and stability.
