Dhs20 per day fine for delayed application to renew Emirates ID

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) has confirmed that customers who are late for submitting an ID card renewal application after 30 days from expiry date will be slapped with a fine of Dhs20 per day and a maximum of Dhs1,000.

Excluded from delay fines are people of determination and heads and members of diplomatic and consular missions, international organisations inside the country and other specific categories, the ICP said.

Authority called on such customers to apply for exemption through the ICP’s website www.icp.gov.ae or its smart app UAE ICP.

"ID card renewal is a service provided by the ICP through which an expired Emirates ID card is renewed and is linked to the residence visa expiry," the ICP said.

A customer can apply for the service through his personal account or through the ICP-approved typing centres, it added.

The service fee is Dhs250 including Dhs100 as ID card fee, Dhs100 as smart services fee and Dhs50 as electronic services fee, it said, noting that customers interested in obtaining an urgent service will have to pay further Dhs150.

To apply for the service, a customer needs to fill in his personal data, attach the required documents and pay the prescribed fees, the ICP said, noting that the application will then be evaluated and sent back to the customer by email.

The required documents include a colour photo and a passport copy.

To apply via the website, a customer needs to log in the smart service by his/her UAE Pass or username, then choose the required service and follow the necessary steps.

Alternatively, a customer can visit the nearest customer happiness centre or typing office and submit the application.
