Al Ain Court of First Instance obligated a man to pay a woman Dhs3,200, of which Dhs2,200 is the value of her washing machine and Dhs1,000 in compensation.
The woman filed a lawsuit demanding that he pay her Dhs51,000, including Dhs10,000, for the value of her washing machine which he damaged and Dhs41,000 in compensation for damages she incurred.
The details of the case date back to an earlier time when the woman filed a lawsuit against the man, in which she demanded that he be obligated to pay the value of the washing machine, Dhs10,000 and a compensation of Dhs41,000 for the psychological and moral damages she incurred, in addition to the fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
The complainant indicated that the appellee damaged the washing machine which she handed over to him for repair on the grounds that he was a member of the agency from which she had purchased it.
She added that he was convicted of destroying the washing machine with the intention of owning it according to a criminal ruling. The court ruled that the appellant take an oath to swear that the value of the washing machine was Dhs10,000.
In the swearing-in session, she reportedly swore that the value of the washing machine was Dhs2,200 and not Dhs10,000.
She also claimed the value of the washing machine was Dhs2,200 and Dhs41,000 as compensation.
The court indicated that the appellee is obligated to compensate the woman for damages and considered that Dhs1,000 was sufficient as compensation, and then obligated the appellee to pay the complainant Dhs3,200, besides paying the fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
