The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered a person to pay a company Dhs3,000 as a penalty for defaming it online using abusive phrases.
He was also ordered to delete those offensive comments, if the policy of those websites allows this. Both parties ordered to pay the expenses and attorney fees jointly.
This was after a company had filed a lawsuit before the Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court, demanding a man be obligated to pay it Dhs100,000, with an annual interest rate of 9 per cent in compensation for the losses it incurred.
The company also demanded to obligate him to delete his offensive comments and reviews against it on the Internet, in addition to paying fees, expenses and attorney fees.
The company indicated that it had contracted with the defendant's wife to supply and install a kitchen, and that it had implemented the agreement to the fullest extent, but abruptly the defendant made offensive comments against it via a number of websites.
Accordingly, the defendant was referred to the Court, which convicted him for the act.
