Dutch researcher’s tweet predicted deadly quake two days ago, netizens shocked

Hundreds of people died in their sleep in Turkey and Syria after a 7.8 quake hit the region on Monday. None of them or the authorities had any idea of the disaster in waiting.

But, wait, there was one soul on this planet who had information of the impending calamity.

Frank Hogerbeets,  a Dutch researcher, had warned in tweeted tweeted on Feb.3 that “sooner or later there will be a ~M 7.5 earthquake in this region (South-Central Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon).”

Frank Hoogerbeets, bio on Twitter says that he works for organisation Solar System Geometry Survey (SSGS) in the Netherlands.

Hogerbeets also had retweeted a tweet by SSGS which said a larger seismic activity may occur between Feb.4 and Feb.6, more likely up to mid or high 6 magnitude.

After Monday’s deadly quake, his tweet about its prediction went viral.

Netizens were shocked over the precision with which he had  about the natural disaster that killed hundreds, and razed a large infrastructure in southeast Turkiye.

Later on Monday Hoogerbeets shared another tweet, saying ‘watch for additional strong seismic activity in Central Turkey and nearby regions. Aftershocks usually continue for a while after a major earthquake.’
