The Dubai Criminal Court imprisoned an African gang of 3 people for one year and fined them jointly Dhs870,000.
The Appellate Court upheld the ruling.They will be deported after serving their jail terms.
The gang stole Dhs870,000 from an Asian merchant in the Naif area in Dubai, before the police arrested two suspects in another emirate and the third at the Dubai International airport while trying to travel outside the country in possession of Dhs150,000 and 8 mobile phones.
In the details, an Asian merchant submitted a report complaining that he was robbed by force after being assaulted at the entrance of a building in which he resided in Naif area.
According to the victim’s statement in the interrogations, he was attacked by Africans while he was with his wife and her friend before arriving at his home.
He added that he owned a store 200 metres away from his residence from which he used to transport sums of money in a small bag on a daily basis.
He was attacked on the day of the incident by the suspects who assaulted him and threatened his wife and her friend to death if they did not remain silent while fleeing with the amount.
A policeman testified in the interrogations that a team of investigations collected inferences and identified the gangsters and their place as two of them were arrested inside an apartment in another emirate.
The third was arrested at The Dubai International Airport while trying to leave the country with Dhs150,000, $1,400 and 7 phones which he bought with the stolen money.
