The Municipal Council of Sharjah City and Sharjah Municipality on Monday opened the Nouf Park 3 on a total area of 44,000 square metres concurrently with the municipality’s celebrations of the Hag Al Lalah, which falls on Shaban 15th in the park.
Building more parks reflects the attention paid by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to family and how to protect its privacy through the neighbourhood parks, said Salem Ali Al Muhairi, Chairman of Municipal Council of Sharjah City.
Neighbourhood parks constitute an environment for acquaintance and social communication between the inhabitants of the same neighborhood and contribute to enhancing the city’s aesthetic appearance by means of the cultivated areas, distinguished service facilities and beautiful designs, he added.
Meanwhile, Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, said the park constitutes a new outlet for the inhabitants of the area and provides them with an ideal environment to spend the most wonderful time and practise different types of sports, especially with the approaching holy month of Ramadan.
Out of its total area of 44,000 square meters, the municipality carried out agricultural works on an estimated area of 41,432 square meters such as establishing green areas, and planting a variety of flora including 7,000 seasonal flowers and nearly 6,000 ornamental plants, soil covers and flowering shrubs, he added.
The municipality provided many facilities in the park including a football playground, a basketball court, a volleyball court, a prayer room for women, wooden benches, 90 energy-saving lighting poles, a fitness area and other amenities, he said.
The opening of the park was accompanied by events, workshops and activities that the municipality organized to bring happiness to the visitors, particularly children.
