The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, affiliated to the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi (DMT), has completed the construction of 18 ramps for pedestrians and people of determination in Abu Dhabi, as part of the municipality's efforts to continue improving and developing ramps designated to facilitate the entry and exit of people of determination and pedestrians to public and recreational facilities, streets and sidewalks.
The municipality confirmed that it is working on the implementation of a plan aimed at constructing many ramps for pedestrian paths and people of determination on Abu Dhabi Island for 25 streets, and making ramps for pedestrian paths on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street, between the intersection of the Zayed 1st Street and the intersection of Mohammed Bin Khalifa Street.
"We are proud to have recently obtained an international certificate from the International Federation of the Disabled, given that the Corniche beach facilities meet the standards required for people of determination," municipality pointed out.
As part of a community initiative for the parking of people of determination around mosques, and with the aim of making people of determination happy, the municipality launched an initiative to establish special parking spaces for people of determination near mosques in Abu Dhabi.
In this regard, 4 parking lots including ramps have been completed, informative signs have been installed, 3 parking lots have been maintained, and 3 drop-off areas for people of determination have been implemented.
The municipality is also working on implementing plans to construct Drop Curbs in the pedestrian paths in Abu Dhabi Island.
A field survey was conducted to include the Arabian Gulf Street from the intersection of Mohammed Bin Khalifa Street to the intersection of Corniche Street, towards the outside and the inside, municipality added.
