Heavy rain with lightning and thunder fell on separate areas across the UAE on Tuesday as a result of the unstable weather conditions currently prevailing in the country.
Light rain started to fall on Al Falah, Musaffah, Madinat Mohamed Bin Zayed and Rabdan in Abu Dhabi and separate areas in Al Ain City, while heavy rains with lightning and thunder fell on Al Belida and Al Bithnah in Fujairah and moderate to heavy rains on Al Hamriya, Al Madam and Kalba in Sharjah.
Heavy rain with thunder fell on Jebel Ali, while light rains on Lahbab and Jumeirah, heavy rains on Seeh Al Salam, Al Marmoom, Hatta and separate areas across Dubai.
The lowest temperature of 12.5 dehrees Celsius was recorded in Rakna in Al Ain at 05:45 UAE local time.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on motorists to take caution while driving vehicles in the rain as the horizontal visibility would be lower due to the rainfall and dust-stirring winds. It also called on them to stay away from large puddles and flooded valleys.
The Abu Dhabi Police also called on motorists to be cautious due to the rainy weather conditions and to abide by the varying speed limits as shown on electronic guide and road signs.
Wednesday’s weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy and dusty during the day and cloudy at times with a chance of light rains on the far northern parts of the country and a noticeable drop in temperature, the NCM said.
Moderate to active northwesterly to westerly winds will blow, turning to strong at times in the north and east, especially offshore, and sand-stirring during the day at 20 to 35 and up to 50 km/h, causing the horizontal visibility to be lower, it added. The sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, it said.
Thursday’s weather will be dusty during the day and partly cloudy to cloudy at times with a chance of light rains in the far northern parts of the country in the morning, it added.
Moderate to active northwesterly winds will blow, turning to strong at times in the north and east, especially offshore, and dust-stirring at 15 to 25 and up to 50 km/h, while the sea will be rough but with moderate waves in the afternoon in the Arabian Gulf and will be rough in the Sea of Oman, it said.
Friday’s weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy and dusty at times during the day with clouds appearing in the east in the afternoon but will be humid at night and on Saturday morning in some coastal and inland areas with a chance of fog or light fog, the NCM added.
Light to moderate northwesterly to southeasterly winds will blow, turning to active at times during the day at 10 to 20 and up to 35 km/h, while the sea will have moderate to regular waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
