Man gets one month in jail for stealing 2 phones

The Dubai Court of Misdemeanours sent an Asian one month behind bars and fined Dhs14,000, on the charges of conniving with a fugitive to steal two phones by force after he ordered them through an electronic shopping application.
He will be deported after serving his sentence.
The details of the case date back to January 2023, when a delivery worker (the victim) submitted a report stating that he had been robbed under duress, adding that he went to a store in the Deira area to receive two phones to deliver them to a customer and receive their value in cash.
He added when he arrived at the place decided by the suspect, after communication with him via WhatsApp, to inform him that his order was ready for delivery at the specified location, and after some time, the suspect arrived with another.
The first suspect reportedly took the two phones to ensure their quality.
The complainant added that the suspect handed over the two phones to his accomplice and fled the place, but the victim chased them and grabbed the suspect who punched him in the face, but he did not leave him and managed to hand him over to the police station.
According to the case file, the suspect denied his conniving with the other to steal the two phones, but the investigations affirmed the victim's claim.
