Thunder shower continues in different parts of the country

A number of areas in the country, on Tuesday, witnessed light to heavy rain, accompanied by lightning and thunder, because of the country being affected by a surface depression.

Light to moderate rain fell on Jebel Hafeet, Green Mubazzarah and Al Dhaher in Al Ain City, and on Ghuwaifat, Al Sila, Sir Bani Yas Island and Jebel Dhanna in the Al Dhafra region. It was heavy with lightning and thunder on Fujairah International Airport, Al Rams, Al Mamoura, Golan, Al Nakhil and Wadi Shahah in Ras Al Khaimah, and Jumeirah, Muhaisnah, Zabeel and Al Aweer in Dubai, in addition to Muwailih, Al Darari, Al Zahia, Al Qarayen, University City, Al Hamriya, Al Siuh and Khorfakkan in Sharjah, while it was moderate on scattered areas in Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.

The lowest temperature recorded in the country on Tuesday morning was 11.1°C in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 06:15 am, according to the National centre of meteorology (NCM).

The NCM urged motorists to exercise caution while driving during rain and poor horizontal visibility, due to rain and dusty winds, advising people to avoid going down into flooded valleys, puddles and torrential runoff in order to avoid dangers.

The Abu Dhabi Police also called on road users to be careful while driving in rainy weather conditions, and to adhere to the changing speed limits shown on electronic signs boards.

The NCM also stated that the weather on Wednesday will be clear to partly cloudy and dusty at times, but will turn to humid at night and on Thursday morning in some inland areas with a chance of light fog.

Active northwesterly winds will blow, turning to strong at times offshore before becoming moderate and sand-stirring during the day and of lower speed in the evening and at night at 15 to 25 and up to 45 km/h.

The sea will be rough but will have moderate waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman on Thursday morning.

Thursday’s weather will be clear to partly cloudy at times with clouds appearing in the east in the afternoon but will turn into humid at night and on Friday morning in some coastal and inland areas with a chance of fog or light fog.

Light to moderate northwesterly to southwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 10 to 20 and up to 35 km/h, while the sea will have moderate to regular waves in the Arabian Gulf and regular waves in the Sea of Oman.

Friday’s weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy at times, turning to humid at night and on Saturday morning in some coastal and inland areas with a chance of fog or light fog.

Light to moderate northwesterly to southwesterly winds will blow, turning gradually to active offshore in the west at night and on Saturday morning at 15 to 20 and up to 40 km/h.
