His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has gifted the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah with a rare and superb piece of Kaaba Kiswa (covering of the Holy Kaaba), dating back to 1441 AH.
Verse 47 of Surah Al Ahzab is written on the gifted Kisaw in the Thuluth style of Arabic calligraphy and its location is under the Kaaba’s belt section on the side next to Bab Ibrahim.
“This comes as part of the many gifts that His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, bestows upon the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah since its inception up to the present time,” Dr Sherzad Abdul Rahman Taher, Secretary General of the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah, said.
These gifts included a large collection of Quranic manuscripts dating back to the era of the Prophet (PBUH) and various antique pieces of rare Kaaba Kiswa, he added. The Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah consists of eight museums, the most prominent of which is the Kaaba Kiswa and the Curtains of the Noble Prophet’s Chamber, which contains 18 rare pieces dating back to more than 400 years, he said. The recently gifted piece of the Kaaba Kiswa dates back to 1441 AH and is located in the side opposite to the Holy Kaaba’s door, he added.
