Large crowds of Al Ain City residents on Thursday night gathered after the Isha prayer to pay the last respects to a Pakistani couple, who were killed in an accident that took place in Masaken, Al Ain.
The accident claimed the lives of a Pakistani national identified as WR, 36, and his wife, while their 3-year-old son survived the accident.
According to a relative of the family, the accident took place on Al Ain-Dubai Road while the family was on their way back from a trip in Dubai.
Social media users circulated an SMS issued by the Al Ain funeral service, which called on the residents to perform the funeral prayers in Hammouda Bin Ali Mosque in Al Jimi, noting that the bodies of the deceased would be buried outside the country.
Mohammed Omer, the representative of the company in which the deceased husband used to work as a foreman, expressed his deep regret for the tragic death of the Pakistani couple, noting that the child already left the intensive care after his health condition proved to be stable and is currently staying in the children’s section in Tawam Hospital.
“Despite the pain that the accident left in our hearts, we were inundated with a large number of phone calls by members of society wanting to check on the boy, who remained alone after his parents had died,” he said.
The callers expressed their readiness to look after the boy and sponsor him at all levels, he added.
