The General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, under the supervision of the Joint Committee for Traffic Safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and in coordination with the Integrated Transport Centre, started implementing a system to warn drivers on all major external roads in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which consists of two types of colored lighting represented as "red and blue" and the color "yellow."
It is determined to achieve its strategic priorities of enhancing road security.
The new system works electronically in connection with the Safe City Center when activating the volatile weather system, which includes rain, wind, sandstorms and fog, by alerting drivers in cases of low visibility and reducing speeds on the main external roads.
According to the system, the light flashes in "red and blue" to alert drivers of a traffic accident on the road, while the colour "yellow" to alert in volatile weather conditions such as fog, dust, rain, and events to be alerted to on the roads.
The warning lights work on solar energy and contain internal batteries. The lighting is clearly visible throughout the day and night and in times of fog at a distance of 200 metres in the same direction, with the possibility of turning on the lighting on the entire road or part of it.
The new system supports road safety and security through its association with the Safe City system, which provides integrated solutions for managing traffic crises, as it has been linked with the Safe City operations room to operate automatically through flashes of warning lights.
