Al Ain Court of First Instance obligated a person to pay Dhs160,000 to another, as the first received the amount under a verbal agreement in return for selling his car to the second, but he refused to hand it over or return the amount.
The court also fined him Dhs7,000 in compensation for the damages suffered by the appellant.
In details, a person filed a lawsuit against the owner of a car, demanding that he pay him Dhs160,000 and the legal interest of 12% from the date of the claim until full payment, and compensation of Dhs40,000 for the material and moral damages incurred by him, besides fees and expenses and lawyer’s fees.
The appellant said that, according to a verbal agreement, he handed over Dhs160,000 to the appellee in return for purchasing his car, but after receiving the amount, he refused to hand over the car or return the money.
The appellee confessed that he had received Dhs160,000 from the appellant and asked for a deadline to repay the amount in installments. He also requested a refusal of compensation.
The court obligated him to return the amount in addition to Dhs7,000 as compensation, as he did not implement his agreement with the appellant and did not return the amount to him, which caused damage and loss as a result of not benefiting from the amount.
