Egyptian authorities executed a man on Wednesday who slaughtered a girl student for rejecting his advances.
Mohammed Adel, who stabbed fellow student Naira Ashraf to death in front of the gate of the Faculty of Arts at Mansoura University was executed after the Court of Cassation rejected the appeal submitted by the murderer’s lawyers a week ago seeking execution of the sentence be deferred, and the murderer be referred again to psychiatry.
The Egyptian Court of Cassation rejected the appeal by the murderer’s lawyer, to close on one of the most heinous murders Egypt has witnessed recently.
On June 22, 2022, the Egyptian Public Prosecutor referred the murderer to the Criminal Court, after he killed Naira Ashraf in front of the main gate of Mansoura University, where he stabbed her fatally several times, then slaughtered her in front of some students.
The Public Prosecution based its accusation of premeditated murder on the testimony of twenty five witnesses, including students as well as a number of security personnel of the university.
Investigations also indicated that the murderer had the intention and determination to kill the victim in revenge for her refusal to marry him, and his multiple attempts to force her to do so failed.
The prosecution said in its interrogations that he planned to kill the victim, as he knew the date of the exams at Mansoura University.
He followed her until she arrived at the university gate, to attack her from behind with several stabs, after which she fell to the ground, then he slaughtered her and injured some of the students who tried to save her.
