As many as 20 smart gates run by artificial intelligence will be installed at the entrances and exits of the main roads of Ras Al Khaimah, according to Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of RAK Police.
"These gates will monitor and analyse the traffic situation, report accidents, as they are equipped with screens to alerts road users about the weather and traffic conditions," Al Nuaimi said.
The installation of smart gates comes within the framework of completing the stages of the safe digital city system project, in partnership and cooperation with the “Safe City Group,” the developer of the project.
"After completing the first phase, during which the infrastructure was completed and smart cameras specialised in security monitoring and traffic control in the areas were installed on all vital roads of RAK," according to Al Nuaimi.
Al Nuaimi indicated that the security project comes in implementation of the Ministry of Interior's strategy (2023-2026), which aims to implement best practices in the field of modern traffic systems, through the use of advanced technology, to achieve the strategic goals of RAK Police.
Smart gates aim to achieve a secure and safe traffic environment and to enhance the sustainability of safe traffic on the emirate's roads, as well as enhance the police's capabilities to control and quickly and efficiently respond to accidents and emergencies on all roads of the emirate.
