The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST) at the University of Sharjah (UoS) has welcomed a delegation from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) to discuss potential collaborations in research and projects related to astronomy and space sciences.
The visit aimed to familiarise the Russian delegation with SAASST's scientific departments, facilities, and activities, as well as explore opportunities for joint participation in national and international conferences.
During the visit, the Russian delegation was provided with a comprehensive overview of various SAASST units, including the Research Laboratories, Optical Observatories, and the esteemed Sharjah Planetarium. They were introduced to the ongoing research initiatives across multiple fields and had the chance to experience the cutting-edge technology showcased in the space exhibitions.
Moreover, they explored the meteorite collection and were watched a special show at the newly developed Sharjah Planetarium, which boasts high-precision digital projectors.
In reciprocation, the Russian delegation presented their own space sciences research and projects, focusing on areas such as space and gravitation, Earth studies, and solar system bodies.
This exchange of knowledge and expertise between SAASST and Lomonosov Moscow State University sets the stage for potential collaborative efforts in the fields of astronomy and space sciences.
