Within just 3 hours, the security teams at the Sharjah Police were able to arrest an Arab, who fled after running over an Asian man with his vehicle on a road in the emirate.
An ambulance was immediately dispatched to the location of the accident, after the Operations Room of the Sharjah Police had received a report, stating that an Asian man exposed to a run over accident on the 2nd industrial road in the emirate.
The Asian man reportedly sustained moderate to critical injuries, and he was transferred to Al Qassimi Hospital for treatment. Through the preliminary investigation, it was found that the Asian man was crossing the road from a place not designated for pedestrians, where a vehicle driven by an Arab ran over him. The driver fled immediately after the accident.
However, the security team, within 3 hours, were able to identify the driver and arrest him, with the help of the traffic tracking systems and smart cameras.
The Police explained that one of the main causes of run over accidents is the wrong crossing of pedestrians from places not designated for crossing, followed by drivers, who fail to give priority to the individuals crossing the roads.
The Police also warned of fleeing scene of accident after causing it, so as to not to face a double penalty.
Road users are also urged to exercise caution, while crossing a road, and not to cross except from the places designated for pedestrian, as well as complying with speed limits on roads.
