An attack on the family members of an award-winning Pakistani entrepreneur Tanveer Nandla in the city of Multan has drawn the ire of netizens from all over the country.
Nandla, who was honoured with the Pride of Performance award in 2022, has said that his brother was brutally assaulted over an alleged land dispute.
He claimed that the culprits have the backing of a Member of a Provincial Assembly (MPA) in Multan. However, he refrained from naming the local politician. Soon after Nandla shared a video, in which attackers can be seen assaulting his brother on social media, it went viral and #JusticeForTanveerNandla became top trend on Twitter.
Social media influencers and common citizens took to social media platforms to seek justice for the entrepreneur, teacher and a top blogger, who won several awards and brought laurels to the country.
Several Pakistanis belonging to different walks of life deplored the attack and requested Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and higher police authorities to arrest the attackers and provide speedy justice to Nandla.
“My elder brother is fighting for his life at the Nishtar Hospital in Multan after the brutal attack. I request to the higher authorities to arrest the perpetrators,” he said.
“I am a law-abiding citizen and want to pursue the case through legal means. I will never resort to violence. The people behind the attack have proven criminal record but due to the backing of powerful circles, they are violating the law of the land. They must be behind bars on attempt to murder charges,” he added.
Nandla said that though the police have registered the First Information Report (FIR) and also conducted a raid, but no one has been arrested thus far.
Nandla was awarded the Pride of Performance award for educating over 5,000 students with modern IT skills, who managed to bring in more than $100 million to Pakistan through remittances.
