The People of Determination Empowerment Council and the Positive Spirit Initiative at Dubai Police teamed up to offer training courses and workshops as part of their participation in the summer camp activities organised by the Children’s City in Dubai.
The participation in the summer camp included providing training courses in taekwondo and shooting, as well as workshops in sign language, which were attended by 70 children.
Major Abdullah Hamad Al Shamsi, Chairman of the People of Determination Empowerment Council at Dubai Police, emphasised the importance of these initiatives in promoting the integration of people of determination and enhancing their quality of life.
He continued that the council is committed to harnessing all resources, both material and human, to ensure a sustainable future that meets the aspirations of this segment of society. “These efforts align with the national policy for empowering people of determination and the Dubai Government’s strategy “My Community ... A City for Everyone”,” which aims to make Dubai a fully-friendly city for people of determination, Al Shamsi added.
According to Fatima Bouhjar, the coordinator of the Positive Spirit Initiative, the initiative collaborates closely with the People of Determination Empowerment Council to support their joint efforts and achieve their goals of promoting values of tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance of others. She also expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders and partners who contributed to the success of these efforts.
The events and workshops witnessed the attendance of Lt. Mohammed Al Khazraji, Lt. Maryam Abdullah, Mohammed Al Hajji, the Secretary of the People of Determination Empowerment Council and a sign language interpreter, and Abdul Quddus Eshaq, the taekwondo instructor. Moreover, the General Department of Protective Security & Emergency also participated in the activities.
The Positive Spirit Initiative of Dubai Police recently hosted an engaging entertainment and Iftar gathering for orphans. In a collaborative effort with Children City-Dubai, Red Crescent Society in the UAE, and Beit Al Khair Society, the event was attended by Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Community Happiness and President of the Positive Spirit Initiative Committee, and other senior officials.
