VIDEO: Dubai Police arrest motorists for performing stunts during rainy weather conditions

The Dubai Police have successfully arrested several motorists who engaged in dangerous and reckless driving and performed stunts on public roads, thus endangering their lives and the lives of other road users during rainy weather conditions.

Brigadier Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, confirmed that the arrest took place shortly after several videos went viral on social media platforms, showing drivers performing dangerous and reckless stunts on various roads across the emirate, particularly during rain. He added the traffic patrols swiftly identified and arrested the reckless drivers involved in these violations and reckless behaviour.

Bin Suwaidan warned against reckless and dangerous driving on the roads, emphasizing that the law imposes penalties for driving in a manner that endangers the lives, safety, and security of both the driver and others on the road. Furthermore, he highlighted that driving in a way that could potentially cause damage to public or private facilities is also subject to legal consequences.

He also indicated that despite the warnings issued by Dubai Police regarding the importance of following traffic laws and regulations during rainy weather, some drivers still engage in reckless and chaotic behaviour. He further noted the impounded vehicles were found to have committed multiple violations, including performing stunts, causing chaos, endangering other road users through reckless driving, and engaging in illegal modifications resulting in excessive noise pollution.

Bin Suwaidan highlighted that the General Department of Traffic has intensified traffic patrols to curb these negative behaviours exhibited by a particular group of drivers and ensure road safety, indicating that the drivers have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the duration of vehicle impoundment varies based on the nature of the violation and the monetary fines imposed per the Federal Traffic Law, emphasizing zero tolerance towards those who commit dangerous violations, including reckless stunts.

He urged parents to monitor their children's actions and educate them on the potential consequences of such behaviours, indicating there are designated places for car drifters to perform these stunts. He stressed the importance of family involvement in traffic safety efforts, working alongside the police to maintain a secure and peaceful community.
