The civil defense teams support by the Ajman Police were able to contain a fire that broke out in the façade of a 15-storey residential building in Al Nuaimiya 3 area, on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street on Firday afternoon. The building was evacuated of all residents safely and no injuries were reported so far.
The operations room of the Ajman Police received a report stating that a residential building caught fire on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street in Al Nuaimiya 3 area, Brigadier Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director General of Police Operations, said.
“The patrols were immediately dispatched to the reported location as a first responder. They cordoned the scene before proceeding with the evacuation operations in conjunction with the Civil Defense teams,” Brigadier Al Matrooshi added.
The firefighting teams succeeded to control the fire without recording injuries or deaths. However, 16 apartments were burned and 13 vehicles were damaged, he added.
The patrols continued the necessary procedures after cooling operation was conducted to disclose the circumstances of the accident and the causes of the fire.
He called on owners of buildings and residents to adhere to the requirements of prevention and safety in residential buildings, and to exercise caution while dealing with anything that could cause fires, especially in residential buildings.
For his part, Colonel Aylan Issa Al Shamsi, Director of the Stations Department at the Civil Defense, said that the civil defense teams that participated in extinguishing the fire were present from the Rashidiya Station as a competent authority, supported by teams from Al Jarf, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain.
He pointed out that the fire damaged property, including a number of apartments and vehicles, noting that the cooling operations were started immediately after extinguishing the fire. The building was handed over to the police to continue the procedures, he added.
