Public and private schools that apply the Ministry of Education’s curriculum across the country will receive the teaching, administrative and technical staff next Monday, marking the start of the new academic year 2023-2024.
The official working hours for all staff will start on August 21 and for students on August 28.
According to the available statistics, some 141,291 teaching, administrative and technical staff will join schools including 43,800 in government schools and 97,491 in private ones.
While the Emirates School Establishment is yet to announce the new updates regarding the numbers of newly appointed teachers for the new academic year, teachers are scheduled to undergo a 5-day career development course between August 21 and 25.
According to the approved school calendar, the new academic year will have a total of 185 days including 73 days (15 weeks)for the first semester, 59 days (12 weeks) or the second semester and 53 days (11 weeks) for the third semester.
It is scheduled that the winter vacation for the teaching, administrative and technical staff will start on Monday, December 18 and will continue until December 29 and for students on Monday, December 11 until December 29, provided that the working hours of all students as well as the teaching, administrative and technical staff will begin on Monday, January 2, 2024.
The spring break for the teaching, administrative and technical staff will begin on Monday, April 1, 2024 until Friday, April 12 and for students on Monday, March 25, 2024 until April 12, 2024, provided that the students and the teaching, administrative and technical staff will join schools for the third semester on Monday, April 15, 2024.
It is expected that the last school day for the new academic year for students will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2024 for summer vacation, which will start on July 1, 2024, while the summer vacation for all teaching, administrative and technical staff will begin on July 15, 2024.
