The Dubai Mounted Police Station deployed 790 security patrols and achieved a 100% participation rate in 106 festivals and community events in the first half of the current year.
Expert Major General Muhammad Issa Al Adhb, Director of Dubai Mounted Police Station, affirmed that Dubai Mounted Police Station plays a crucial role in bolstering the safety and security of community members and contributing to spreading peace among them.
"Dubai Mounted Police have become an integral part of the patrol system of Dubai Police, specifically at tourist attractions, commercial areas, and residential neighborhoods," he said.
Crime Prevention
Major General Al Adhb highlighted that the Mounted Police Station serves a crucial strategic objective of crime prevention due to its effective tasks and roles in apprehending suspects and wanted individuals. "The mounted police patrols can enter narrow districts that police vehicles can't reach, enhancing people's sense of safety and security in jurisdiction areas, including industrial, commercial, and tourist zones," he added.
Al Adhb explained that the station undertakes various tasks, including inspecting suspicious individuals and abandoned vehicles and maintaining security at sports facilities. "The Station also organizes a therapeutic horse riding program for people of determination and provides horse riding training sessions for male and female cadet officers of Dubai Police Academy," he continued.
790 Security Patrols
Al Adhb affirmed that the Mounted Police Station deployed 790 mounted patrols during the first half of this year, which led to the seizure of 574 wanted vehicles, 6 wanted individuals, and the issuance of 462 traffic fines.
Furthermore, he highlighted the pivotal role of Mounted Police patrols in securing 16 matches during the first half of the year. Additionally, the patrols actively shared 71 security-related pieces of information with both the General Department of Criminal Investigation and police stations.
Maj. Gen. Al Adhb pointed out the 'Ride with Dubai Mounted Police' initiative had deployed 92 patrols with the participation of volunteers during the first half of the current year.
106 Events
Major Dahi Al Jallaf, Acting Deputy Director of the Mounted Police Station, highlighted that the Events Division actively participated in and organized 106 events during the first half of 2023, which included involvement in 45 external events and 5 internal events. Additionally, they provided training for nine knights participating in various races and played a significant role in organizing 17 races.
Moreover, they trained 20 horses for diverse events and qualified 10 horses for different races.
Meanwhile, the Therapeutic Training Division dedicated its efforts to training and rehabilitating five horses and providing training for 79 people of determination in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development and the Community Development Authority during the first half of the current year.
Moreover, they conducted two informative lectures in cooperation with Dubai Foundation For Women & Children.
Al Jallaf further highlighted that the Equestrian Training School successfully trained 96 trainees and an additional 22 individuals in desert horse riding and fulfilled 12 horse livery requests during the first half of 2023.
Achievements
According to AlJallaf, the Mounted Police Station accomplished several noteworthy achievements during the first half of the current year. These accomplishments included obtaining first place in the International Tent Pegging Championship and achieving a 100% satisfaction rate among the families of children participating in the People of Determination programme.
Additionally, they successfully conducted 1,120 training sessions for beneficiaries across various programs and training initiatives and achieved 100% participation in all community events and initiatives. Lastly, the Equestrian Generations initiative benefited a total of 153 individuals.
100 Qualified horses
Al Jallaf pointed out that the Dubai Mounted Police Station has 100 horses that roam the city's streets to ensure safety and tranquillity and spread joy among its people.
“The veterinary and horse care are pivotal work aspects. Our veterinarians and nurses work tirelessly to ensure the horses' safety and wellbeing at all times, treat their injuries, and follow up on their health and immunization schedule," he concluded.
