His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has instructed the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) and the University of Sharjah (UoS) to accept students whose national service has been postponed for one reason or another.
The students, however, will be given the opportunity to resume their university studies and keep their scholarships, once they are requested to perform their national service.
In implementation of Sheikh Sultan’s directives, the emirate’s Authority for Initiatives Implementation and Infrastructure Development (Mubadara) started carrying out a project to build 400 car parks and 24 bus-stops to serve visitors to the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre and Khorfakkan Sports Club.
Earlier, Sheikh Sultan instructed Mubadara at the beginning of this month to allocate a plot of land for building parking lots, making U-turns and drawing zebra crossings to serve the amphitheatre and the club.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education granted academic accreditation to the University of Kalba for its curricula. Now that becoming accredited in the country, the university will start receiving students next week.
This was announced by Mohammed Khalaf via the Direct Line programme, which is broadcast by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
