The UAE sent a plane carrying 2,500 laptops and 10,000 school bags to support the educational process for Ukrainian students, in cooperation with the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
“The UAE’s relief efforts are ongoing to meet the necessary humanitarian needs of the Ukrainian people and ensure continuous educational process for those who have been forced by circumstances to seek refuge in neighboring countries or to be internally displaced, using digital technologies in education,” said Salem Ahmed Salem Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Ukraine.
Al Kaabi pointed out that these supplies come as part of the UAE’s keenness on supporting the educational sector and enhancing the efforts made to create the necessary conditions for children to continue their education in Ukrainian schools through distance learning.
Since the beginning of the crisis, the UAE has provided urgent relief supplies to those affected by the crisis in Ukraine.
These included granting $100 million to Ukrainian civilians and launching an air bridge through which 11 aircraft have been dispatched so far to the civilians inside Ukraine.
The aircraft carried about 714 tonnes of relief aid, basic foodstuffs and medical supplies as well as 2,520 generators and 10 ambulances.
The UAE also sent a ship carrying 250 tonnes of relief supplies on board to Poland and Romania in order to be transported thereafter into Ukrainian territories.
In addition, planes carrying relief supplies were operated for Ukrainian refugees in neighbouring countries such as Poland, Moldova and Bulgaria.
