Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Media Council, chaired, on Wednesday, the regular meeting of the Sharjah Media Council, at the 06 Mall in the emirate of Sharjah.
He praised the efforts of the institutions of the Sharjah Media Council during the past period and the positive results achieved, which come in accordance with strategic plans approved by the council, wishing success to all institutions that support the work of the media in the Emirate.
The council discussed several topics related to the development of the media sector in the emirate, in addition to following up on the council’s recommendations in its previous sessions.
The council reviewed the report of Sharjah Media City (Shams), highlighting its efforts and plans in attracting major international companies in the field of film production and supporting media companies registered in Shams.
The Sharjah Broadcasting Authority also reviewed the viewership statistics through the "elife” platform, in which the Sharjah Sports Channel achieved third place among the top 10 sports channels on the platform. In addition to the positive increase in the number of views through the authority’s "Maraya” application, along with the authority’s participation in external exhibitions such as Cannes Film Festival, IBC Amsterdam, and New York Documentary Film Festival.
The council reviewed the preparations of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau to organise the activities of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) in its 12th edition, which will be launched on 13th September under the theme "Today’s Resources... Tomorrow’s Wealth.”
The council reviewed the most prominent topics, discussion sessions and activities accompanying the forum, which are concerned with the field of climate change and highlight the importance of using and managing the resources that countries and societies possess and how to transform them into factors of sustainable development.
The meeting also discussed the administrative aspects related to the increase in the Emiratisation index, financial follow-ups, periodic reports, and external participations of the council and its affiliated institutions.
The meeting witnessed the attendance of Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Media City (Shams), Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansoori, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC), Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), and Hessa Abdullah Al Hammadi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC).
