Girl born with 26 fingers, family calls her goddess' incarnation in India

An Indian couple welcomed their firstborn this week at Bharatpur Hospital, in the state of Rajasthan, northern India, with 7 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot, a condition that doctors described as a “genetic disorder,” according to what was published by local media in India.
The occurrence has prompted her family members to call her the incarnation of goddess Dholagarh Devi.
Sarju Devi, 25 years old, the girl’s mother, expressed how happy she was with her child, as well as her brother, whose name was not revealed, expressing how happy he was also that his sister had given birth to a child with 26 fingers, which they considered a bringer of good luck.
Gopal Bhattacharya, the girl's father, who works as a policeman in the Central Reserve Police Force, shared his happiness with his wife and brother about their firstborn, according to what was reported by local media.
Dr B.S. Soni said: “The extra fingers do not pose any harm of any kind to the newborn, and other than that, she is in very good health.
“It is not yet known whether her parents are planning to perform surgery on their child to remove the extra fingers.”
This incident comes after the social media users shared a picture of the foot of an American, traveling on an American Airlines, with a sixth toe on his left foot. The picture garnered widespread reactions with 8.1 million views and 14,000 comments.
