His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday, approved “Al Mudina Water Reservoir” project in the Central Region with a capacity of 6 million cubic meters (1.3 billion gallons) at a total cost of Dhs261 million.
As per directives of Ruler of Sharjah, designing and constructing the reservoir will start immediately.
The Reservoir will support increasing the area cultivated with wheat in Mleiha from 400 hectares this year, to 1,900 hectares next year.
Moreover, it will serve the cattle-breeding project, which is going to start this year with one thousand cows of the finest breeds, and is anticipated to be doubled to 2,000 cows in 2024.
The reservoir will also serve sheep, goat and poultry projects, which will begin this year too with the best types and selected breeds.
