The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced three Asians to six months in jail to be followed by deportation and fined them Dhs8,000 after being convicted with kidnapping a fellow man, assaulting him, locking him up in the house of one of them and robbing him of the same amount of the fine.
The case dated back to October last year when an Arab reported to the police that he saw three Asians kidnapping another and fleeing in a vehicle.
According to his statement, he saw a person resisting the defendants who forced him to get into their vehicle and fled away but he could take down its plate number and informed the police accordingly.
A policeman stated that he gathered inferences from the scene of the incident and could identify the owner of the vehicle used in the incident.
The vehicle owner was summoned and on interrogation, he denied any connection to the crime, adding that his friend – one of the defendants — borrowed his vehicle on the day of the incident.
The defendants, who were still locking the victim up, were later arrested.
The victim stated that he had borrowed Dhs10,000 from one of the defendants but failed to pay back the full amount, adding that on the day of the incident the defendant saw him near his place of residence to talk about how to return the full amount.
The victim, however, was surprised by the defendant and two others assaulting him and robbing him of Dhs8,000.
