The traffic patrols at the Dubai Police were able during the past two days to impound 36 vehicles, whose drivers violated traffic rules and regulations, Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Khalfan Al Qaidi, Acting Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Traffic at Dubai Police, said.
Among the violations committed by those were participating in random marches, driving a vehicle in a way that endangers driver’s life or life, safety or security of others, causing chaos on the roads, making changes in the vehicle’s engine or chassis without a permit, causing disturbance to the residents of the emirate, blurring number plates, and throwing waste on the public road, Al Qaidi added.
He stressed that such behaviors were dealt strictly by police personnel, as the Dubai Police had previously warned that these acts will face penalties stipulated in the Decree No.30 of 2023 regarding impoundment of vehicles, which will require payment of Dhs50,000 to be released, as per the law.
Al Qaidi warned against reckless driving on the roads, noting that the law punishes anyone who drives in a way that endangers his/her life or the lives, safety or security of others, or drives in a way that would damage the road, by impounding vehicle varying periods depending on type of violation.
He also pointed out that at least 80 per cent of those who involved themselves in such acts were exposed to serious accidents resulting in deaths and serious injuries. He appealed to members of the community to report any negative behavior on the roads, through the “Police Eye” service in the Dubai Police application on smartphones, or by calling the “We Are All Police” service on 901.
