The Dubai Digital Authority has warned of phone hacking via WhatsApp, where fraudsters try to seize data and ask for bankcard information.
The Authority said via X platform, “In recent hours, attempts to steal people's WhatsApp accounts have drastically increased, whereby fraudsters send messages through WhatsApp from names of people known to the recipient asking him/her to click on a link to join a group, through which they will attempt to acquire your trust and your data.”
It also added, “Fraudsters are also attempting other scenarios to gain control, including requesting bankcard information.” The Dubai Digital Authority urges the public to be alert and cautious to any suspicious attempts.
