Ras Al Khaimah: Patrols of Ras Al Khaimah Police were able to arrest a 35-year-old man over involving in a hit-and-run accident. He reportedly and fled the scene, after running over a 67-year-old Asian man by his car.
The latter was seriously wounded, Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Bahhar, Acting Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police said. The operations room at the Ras Al Khaimah Police received a report at 5:42 a.m. on Thursday, stating that an elderly man was exposed to a run-over accident, and that the driver who caused the accident had ran away, he added.
Colonel Al Bahhar continued, “Instantly, a security team at the Traffic Investigation and Control Department rushed to the scene and commenced the search and investigation to identify the perpetrator.”
Through checking footage of the “Safe City Cameras” system, the security team succeeded in monitoring and tracking the vehicle, and identifying the driver within a few minutes. He was arrested and refereed to the competent authorities for further legal actions. While the seriously injured elderly man was transferred to the hospital, and he is currently undergoing the medial treatment, Colonel Al Bahhar added.
