A seventy-five year Emirati, who had been a well-known volunteer in bathing the dead body before funeral, praying at funerals and offering condolences in Ras Al Khaimah and other emirates for approximately 40 years, died on Wednesday evening.
The deceased, Yousef Mohammed Al Balushi, was waiting for the return of the body of his brother, who died in Thailand.
He was supposed to receive him, bathe him and pay him the last honours but fate decreed that he would die before the arrival of his brother’s body.
Khalid Al Balushi, the deceased’s son, said his father died in a grisly traffic accident, which led him to be thrown out of the car window, adding that the car was driven by his father’s close friend and companion who was injured in the accident but his condition was described as stable.
He pointed out that his father had finished bathing, praying and paying the last honour for a dead man on the same day and the accident took place on his way back.
The funeral prayer for the deceased is scheduled to be held after sunrise on Thursday.
