Fog blankets different areas of UAE for 6 hours; lowest temperature recorded in Jebel Jais

For 6 hours on Saturday, fog blanketed different areas of the UAE, and heavy rains with hail fell due to the country being affected by an extension of a surface depression, accompanied by an extension of an upper-air low-pressure system in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Fog started to form over Al Ajban and Arjan in Abu Dhabi, over Sweihan in Al Ain, Ghayathi, Bida Al Mutawa and Tal Al Sarab in Al Dhafra region, and on Emirates Road towards Hind City in Dubai. Intermittent fog also formed on Emirates Road near Expo and Al Maktoum International Airport.

Light rains fell on Masafi in Ras Al Khaimah, and heavy rains and hail lashed Wadi Maydaq and Marbad in Fujairah, and other separate areas of the country.

The lowest temperature, 18.7°C, was recorded on Saturday in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 00:00 UAE local time.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) appealed to individuals to be cautious while driving during rainfall and to stay away from large puddles and flooded valleys.

The Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to be cautious due to the rainy weather conditions and to adhere to the varying speed limits shown on electronic traffic signs.

NCM expected Sunday’s weather to be generally clear and partly cloudy at times, with a chance of some cumulus clouds forming in the east and south in the afternoon, and humid at night and on Monday morning, with a chance of fog or light fog formation in some western regions.

Winds on Sunday, according to the NCM, will be southeasterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, sometimes active, with speeds ranging from 10 to 20, amounting to 35 kilometres/h, and the sea will be light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.

Monday's weather is expected to be generally clear and partly cloudy at times, with a chance of some cumulus clouds forming in the east and south in the afternoon, and temperatures will tend to gradually decrease.

NCM reported that it would be humid at night and on Tuesday morning, with a chance of fog or light fog forming over some western interior areas.

Winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, active at times, with a speed of 10 to 20, amounting to 35 kilometres/h and the sea will be light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman, according to NCM.

Tuesday's weather is expected to be generally clear and partly cloudy at times, with a chance of some cumulus clouds forming in the east and south, accompanied by rains in the afternoon, and humid at night and on Wednesday morning, with the possibility of light fog forming in some western areas.

Tuesday's winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, sometimes active, stirring dust, with speeds ranging from 10 to 20, amounting to 40 kilometres/h, and the sea will be light in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, NCM indicated.

Wednesday’s weather, according to the NCM, will be generally clear and partly cloudy at times, with a chance of some cumulus clouds forming in the east, south, and some western regions, accompanied by rains in the afternoon.

On Wednesday, winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, sometimes active, stirring dust, with speeds ranging from 10 to 20, amounting to 40 kilometres/h, and the sea will be light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman, NCM pointed out.
