Al Ain Court of First Instance obligated a person to pay another Dhs10,000 in compensation for the damages he incurred, after he insulted him via WhatsApp.
The suspect was reportedly convicted for that according to a criminal ruling.
The victim filed a lawsuit against a person in which he requested that he be obligated to pay compensation of Dhs50,000, for the damages he incurred, besides paying the fees and expenses of the lawsuit and the lawyer’s fees, because he insulted him via WhatsApp.
The appellant said the appellee was convicted for that charge according to a criminal ruling.
Regarding the request for moral compensation, the court stated that the Civil Transactions Law stipulates that whoever is harmed, must obtain compensation from the wrongdoer.
The court added that what is proved in the criminal ruling is that the appellee was convicted of the charge of insulting the appellant, who suffered moral damage, so the appellee is legally obligated to compensate him for those damages.
The court then estimated the compensation, according to the circumstances of the case, at Dhs10,000 for all damages the appellant incurred.
